The Rest Area “New Italy” is located 80km south of Byron Bay. We don’t recommend this spot if you want to stay near Byron, however, it’s a great spot if you are driving along the east coast in Australia. Here you are a bit isolated from the highway. In addition to showers and restaurants, there is also a small museum about the colonization of this region by – you guessed it – mainly Italians.

Do not expect too much, because the place is really small – the museum too. But it is ideal to take a short break.
