Free Camping Byron – Hilltop Lookout [with map]

There are a number of free places to sleep and camp for free in the Byron Bay area. Check them out here.

This camping area is  a day use area. We have not seen any rangers to check around here, so you should be good to stay for a few more days as well. In case you are checked by a ranger, tell them that you are having a rest on your trip further up north of Australia.

Since Byron Bay is heavily monitorized it is definitely not recommended to stay in the center of the town. This free camp area is therefore located about 16km outside of Byron Bay, however, you are allowed to stay for free and can visit Byron easily during the day – and night as well of course!

The Hilltop Lookout is located at Coorabell Creek and offers an awesome view over Byron and the country side of the area.

Find the exact location and directions in the map below.
