Getting Around in Sydney – Public Transportation

Sydney has extensive public transportation - we tell you what you need to know to get around the city.

For about 50 dollars you can get a weekly ticket, which allows you to use public transport (bus, train, ferry) in zone 1 for 7 days without limitation. Zone 1 is more than enough to see all the tourist attractions of Sydney. So you can easily go to Bondi or Manly Beach and in the center of the city. The ticket is not available on the bus but at kiosks around the city.

If you stamp the card for the first time after 3 pm on your first day, this day will count – it will give you one extra day. Since tickets are not available on the bus, you can sometimes try to get on the bus by saying that you just arrived in the city and didn’t know how to get a ticket, but you will buy one as soon as possible. Works almost always! The bus drivers are also very friendly in Sydney – seriously!
